Here you will find rental objects for your vacation in L'Estartit

L'Estartit is a charming town, full of life, at the sea. Directly in front of the coast are the famous Islas Las Medas, a group of rocky islands, which used to be a pirate refuge. Today its an area with a huge variety of fish, hence a diver's paradise. This is easily visible, you can see the harbor with fish-boats and recreational crafts. At the right there begins a 7 km long and very wide sandy beach. At the left from the port there is another major reserve, which invites hiking. Behind L'Estartit, direction interior, is a small rocky mountain massif called Montgri, which also attracts hikers. The city itself is divided into a core center with a pedestrian zone, small shops, restaurants, bars and a relatively newly built adjacent territory, mainly apartment houses.
Here's a look over the 7 km long sandy beach, from L'Estartit to Playa de Pals, only interrupted once by a small river. Depending on the water of the Rio Ter you can even do a walk up to the other end of the beach. But in any case, the peace-seekers in the main season always posts on the beach, where not much is going on.
On the square in front of the church, in the middle of the pedestrian zone of the center, there take place regular dance events (Sardanas) from spring until autumn instead. Also from here are starting many religious processions. Automobiles here can only be seen in winter, because the Spaniard is not so closely with the notion pedestrian zone.
In the continuation of the church square, you will see the actual pedestrian area filled with shops. Especially this picture was taken at 'Día de las alfombras', at the beginning of July. On this day they create beautiful images, made from flowers and wood carving, partly classic, partly religious, but also partly with everyday issues or even images from the comic world. Just worth seeing it ...
Almost parallel to the pedestrian zone Estartit also shows prosperous life on the road which leads along the beach. There are many bars, restaurants and some shops and lots of live.
Directly beside the wide beach of Estartit there is a beautiful beach promenade, on which the locals and tourists walk under the palm trees.
Especially notable is the 'Fiesta de San Juan', at 23.6. of each year. This is the summer solstice, which is a quite large 'Fiesta' with plenty of fireworks and a large performance on the beach.
Here you see one of the religious processions. In July, the 'Virgen del Carmen', the patron saint of fishermen, is celebrated. In this procession, a small fishing boat is carried from the church to the port, then all people enter the boats and all boats do a trip around the island group of Las Medas. It is a great experience to participate in such a procession.
This is a typical Sardanas Chapel. The Sardanas is the traditional Catalan dance.
Absolutely recommendable is a boat trip with one of the larger boats with a glass floor. These boats travel along the rugged coast.
The extremely wide beach invites to sunbathing and swimming. Estartit respects very much a clean beach and clean water. There are also sun loungers and umbrellas for rent. Whoever does not like a crowdy beach, only moves a few 100 meters further south. There are always enough places where not too much is going on.
