   L'Escala is located at the lower end of the long sandy beach of the Gulf of Roses. It has approximately 3,500 residents and is the most important fishing-city on the entire coast. L'Escala is even less suitable for swimming, but in the immediate vicinity beautiful beaches.
In L'Escala is really experiencing the Mediterranean flair. Narrow streets, old houses rub ... you could be in the maze of streets almost lost.   
   In the middle of the city, directly al the coast, you find again and again small beaches, often used for Siestas by the locals.
Since L'Escala on a gentle slope is seen in the narrow streets repeatedly times the sea.   
   The narrow streets take no end. And again you meet all kinds of shops and bodegas, small bars where you can drink something and order Tapas, small appetizers.
Sometimes the narrow streets open up and give you a look at a smaller place with beautiful buildings. At these places often take place events such as a Sardanas, a catalan folk dance.   
   Hotels are up to the coast, but no giant tourist centers, but smaller, usually a maximum of 4-storey houses.
Here again a look at a city beach.   
   Immediately at the northern end of L'Escala already starts the long beach of the Gulf of Roses.
